Christmas in Pink: Sold Out in 8 Days

I have to start with this: Christmas in Pink sold out in just 8 days. Eight! It’s one of our most successful Christmas designs to date and I’m still a little bit blown away. So I thought I’d tell you guys how it came together, because as hair artists we all love a little behind-the-scenes look.
It started with a very simple brief
I drew this one by hand, like many of our designs, and the brief to myself was: make it Christmassy. Properly Christmassy. So I went with the things you picture the second someone says “Christmas”: trees, candy canes and wrapped presents. Nothing complicated, just the stuff that makes you feel like it’s December.
Then came the colour
Once I knew what I was drawing, I had to decide what it would look like. The pink was a very deliberate choice. It’s one of the colours that represent Foil Me and the chocolate brown, wine and ecru are all colours we picked for our branding this year, so it really felt like us, and it’s also very on trend. I wanted a Christmas foil that looked fresh and didn’t look like every other Christmas design out there.
And the gold, because every good design needs that extra oomph!
I wanted gold to adorn the motifs so it gave the foil a little touch of class, and it catches the light when it’s in the client’s hair. It’s the detail that turned a cute Christmas foil into one you wanted to photograph and show off to your guests.

Which brings me to you!
You loved it as much as I hoped you would, and this wasn’t a one-person effort (far from it).
-
To the Foil Me team, thank you for everything you put into every release, including the bits nobody sees.
-
To our artisans, Aoife Breen, Jean Vadnal, James Henderson, Marni Suniula, thank you for loving it so much you wanted to film yourselves seeing it for the first time and creating your wonderful masterpieces with it!
-
To our ambassador, Sheree Knobel, thank you, always, for backing this one from the very start when I first showed you what I was thinking of drawing.
-
To our distributors who believed in this design from the very first email I sent you and ordered straight away before it was even in our warehouse!
-
And to every one of you who bought it, whether you’ve been with us for years and came back for more or you’re new and gave us a go, thank you. You’re the reason it sold out in 8 days and you’re the reason we keep doing what we do.

So what happens now it’s gone?
Christmas in Pink won’t be coming back, which is part of what makes it special. But we’ll be designing a brand new Christmas foil for next year, and I’d love your input. What do you want to see? A colour, a motif, something you’ve always wished a Christmas foil had? Email us at hello@foilme.com.au with your ideas. I read every one.
In the meantime, there’s plenty to explore
If you missed out, I’m sorry, and I hope you’ll find something to love in our other collections. Our new matte black foil, Simply Noir, is a good one if you want something simple and a little bit dramatic for October. You can also browse all of our collections here to see what’s available right now.
With so much love and gratitude,
Emily
