The Dressing Gown CEO: Doing It Scared: A Conversation with Anna Haldane

At Foil Me, we’ve always believed the most powerful stories are the ones told by the people living them. And in the latest episode of The Dressing Gown CEO podcast, I had the absolute joy of chatting with the incredible Anna Haldane – master colourist, four-time Behind the Chair One Shot finalist, newly appointed Educational & Technical Manager at Eco Heads, and mum of two.

Anna wears many hats (sometimes all at once!) – and she does it with grit, humour, and a whole lot of heart.

From Salon Floor to Global Stage

Anna’s career is nothing short of inspiring. She started out as a cutter and educator, but eventually found herself drawn to the world of colour. Rather than staying in her comfort zone, she leaned into the challenge – and carved out her niche as a leading specialist in Asian, coarse, brunette hair.

Her dedication has taken her far: four years running as a One Shot finalist, and recognition across the globe for her artistry and innovation. But what really stands out is how Anna approaches her craft – with courage, creativity, and her mantra to “do it scared.”

The Real Villain Behind Hair Struggles

One of my favourite moments in our conversation was when Anna shared her perspective on something most stylists (and clients!) overlook: water quality.

So often, when we see dryness, fading, or brittleness, we reach for a product. But as Anna explained, the real culprit can actually be what’s coming straight out of the basin taps.

In her new role at Eco Heads, Anna is determined to change the conversation – showing stylists how transforming water can completely transform hair. Her passion for education and innovation is infectious, and you can tell she’s on a mission to make water quality an essential part of the haircare dialogue.

Doing It Scared

If there’s one theme that shines through Anna’s story, it’s courage. Whether she’s navigating career shifts, balancing motherhood with leadership, or stepping into an international role, Anna doesn’t wait for “the right time.” She steps forward – even when it feels scary.

As she so beautifully put it:

“You have to do it scared. Because if you don’t push yourself, you’re never going to get anywhere.”

This episode is filled with wisdom, laughter (yes, even Donald Trump’s hair makes an appearance), and the kind of raw honesty that makes The Dressing Gown CEO podcast what it is – real, unfiltered, and always from the heart.

✨ At Foil Me, we’re proud to support and celebrate artists like Anna who are shaping the future of our industry - with courage, creativity, and community.
